Fuzzy the Taste Tester

Lindy & Co. Gourmet Dog Treats was created by Daybreak which is a non-profit organization that provides emergency shelter, outreach programs, traditional housing and other vital services to Dayton, Ohio's homeless, transient youth population. This means that you are not only treating your dog but you are helping kids in need of assistance. Dogs and cats aren't the only ones who end up in the streets; so do kids who have been kicked out of their home. 100% of the profits go directly to Daybreak, funding emergency shelter, housing and for over 500 homeless teens and young adults each year.

The wide assortment of flavors come in everything from Vegetarian to Gluten-Free to combos like Peanut Butter Bacon.

One of my product testers, Gary Rhode, agreed to put the treats to the test with his shelter rescue dog, Fuzzy.  An assortment of cookie flavors were duly sent to Fuzzy for his "opinion."  Here is Gary's report.

"Fuzzy was trying to peel one of the treat bags open. So far, he's tried three of the flavors: Honey and Oats, Peanut Butter Cookie and the Carrot Cake Cookie. He's looking forward to trying all of the flavors!

"I like the fact that they are made from healthy ingredients and the packaging is people-friendly." I must interject and say that Gary has a problem with his hands so this is a huge advantage for him.  "It would grab my attention in a store. I like the name. Lindy's Bakery sounds like a very nice place! It sounds like a specialty company for dogs.

"Fuzzy is an equal-opportunity lover but regarding these treats, he loved the three we sampled. If he could have had a knife and fork, he would have had it for dinner! He loved the three. The pictures and the video speak for themselves. He loved the packaging, the ingredients and could not wait for the next training session!"

Gary had his hands full trying to juggle the camera and take each picture before Fuzzy devoured the treats!

"This is like the Rolls Royce, Mazarati or Tessler of dog treats!," he added.

Below is a video of Fuzzy and Lindy & Co. Gourmet Dog Treats:

What an entertaining blog, Darlene and the varieties of Lindy's treats mentioned, made me feel very envious of Fuzzy, who, going by the video alone, demonstrated unreservedly just how delicious the treats are.......he ensured that not one crumb was left behind.
In addition to the fact that the packaging is user friendly......something that manufacturers do not always consider......I like that sales of the product benefit displaced children, with 100% of profits going towards this cause.
Thank you for sharing this blog with us. I will also share on my Timeline, in the hope that more people will not only read the blog, but buy Lindy's treats for their canine pets, so increasing the benefit passed on to deserving children.

Hi Darlene - As the CEO of Daybreak, the nonprofit that started Lindy's, I wanted to thank you for your wonderful blog. We're thrilled that Fuzzy liked our treats because after all, he and his friends are our "end customers". Last year, Lindy's provided 44 homeless young people with employment so that they could move out of homelessness. Hopefully the pet parents who read your blog will give our treats a try so that we can help even more youth create their own forever homes. So thank you again for your wonderful review. We truly appreciate it. Best Regards, Linda Kramer

Darlene,

I want to thank you, Gary and Fuzzy for introducing us to Lindy and Company dog treats. Daybreak has thought outside the box when they created Lindy and Company. This business teaches youth a skill, create a yummy and marketable product with 100% of the proceeds helping the homeless youth in Dayton, Ohio. The Lindy and Company website is colorful, informative and easy to use.
I cannot wait to order a few bags to give to friends and hope to create some more Lindy treat fans.
Thanks again!

What an excellent concept and I hope that Daybreak can help a great many more of Ohio's homeless teens. Clearly Fuzzy loved the treats, and the cute heart shape is attractive, but I wonder if they might be a little large for some of the smaller dogs and wondered hos easy they are to break up for smaller dogs?

Great blog and sounds like Lindy & Co. Gourmet Dog Treats are good snacking for dogs as well as good for them. I also like the fact that the bags are people friendly and that the treats are made from wholesome, healthy ingredients--a must for my dogs. I think Fuzzy is the perfect treat tester and I love all the pictures and the video of him showing his treat testing skills. Gary Rhode and Fuzzy have created some wonderful pictures and might even have a career in advertising dog treats. I'm hoping at least some of the treats are completely chicken free, so I will be able to let my dog who allergic can have more treat options.

Thank you so much for your comment, Gordon. You're right, they are doing something wonderful by helping dog owners give their pets great treats and helping young people not only stay off the streets but learn a trade and hold down a job. That will stand them in good stead when they are adults, on their own.
Thank you so much for sharing this blog post on your Facebook Timeline!

Hi Linda,
Thank you so much for leaving a comment! I'm so glad you're pleased with my post. I think Gary and Fuzzy were dazzled by the array of flavors! We know that Fuzzy loved them and Gary loved everything about your product and your packaging.
We have some great comments here and two or three questions for you about the product.
Everyone is impressed by your efforts to create a good product, give young people a place to live and work experience. The truly miraculous thing is that 100% of the profits go Daybreak. Bless you for starting something so wonderful!
There aren't many reviews on this blog, it is mostly educational and informative to help pets and their people. A review will stand out and I'm so pleased to be able to highlight what you are doing!
Warmly,
Darlene Arden

Thank you so much for your comment, Nancy. I'm so glad you enjoyed the Lindy & Co. Gourmet Treats website and like their program to help young people and do it by making treats for dogs in such a range of flavors!
You are so generous to be buying treats for friends! That's a great gift idea!

Hi James, I'm glad you enjoyed the post. You're right, Fuzzy is a very lucky dog in more ways that one, he was rescued from horrendous conditions in a shelter and Gary did a lot of gentle, positive training to have a dog anyone would want.

Hi Gary, Thank YOU for the great review! You did all the writing and Fuzzy did all of the taste testing. You're quite a team! The pictures are wonderful! Thank you for going the extra mile and sharing a fun video, too!!

Hi PetShrink! I agree. I'm not certain of the shape of each of the different flavors because I wasn't the one who received the sample packages. Because they're made bakery style, I should think they'd be fairly easily broken for training purposes. Have you surfed to their website to see if there is more information about shapes, sizes, etc.? I'll see if I can get some answers if they are not on the site.

Hi Rescuegal! I think you're right about the pictures and video, as well as the treats. Healthy treats really are a must for everyone, including our four-legged companions. You might go to the website and check out all the flavors to see if ingredients are listed. I wasn't able to spend much time on the site. I put several links to the site within the post!

Hi PetShrink - thanks for your question! Linda Kramer, CEO of Daybreak, offered the following reply: 'Actually, all of our treats are pretty easy to break. The “Peanut Butter and Bacon” and the “Apples and Cheese” treats are the most dense than the others so they may be a bit more difficult to break.'

Hope this helps!

PetShrink said...

Thanks, as we get older and our hands more arthritic breaking treats can be tough and toy dogs rapidly eat too much if they get more than tiny pieces.

Darlene said...

Hi Kwags, I join PetShrink in thanking you. It's so good to know that the treats are pretty easy to break. And thank you for pointing out the ones that might be a little harder to break.
